REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open Until Filled LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 12 months DATE REVISED: 03/29/2019 WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: $57,083 Minimum $76,851 Maximum PAY GRADE: TEA + 39 Extra Duty Days Grant Funded Position PRIMARY PURPOSE: Oversee all aspects of the development, implementation and management of the Historias Americanas Grant. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master's Degree in education or related field preferred Bachelor's Degree in education or related field Valid Teacher Certification required Special Knowledge/Skills: * Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills * Strong organization and time management skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * High degree of computer proficiency using Microsoft Office * Coordinate district functions Experience: * Three years of experience in education and social studies content * Supervisory experience of small to medium teams, preferred * Experience in fiscal/budget management, data reporting, and management information systems, preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Articulate the Historias Americanas Grant's Vision, Mission, and Objectives to staff, administrators, students, and families. * Coordinate the Historias Americanas implementation at each campus and all corresponding functions. * Coordinate the development, review and update of curriculum documents in the area of Social Studies program by aligning the documents developed during summer institute. * Work cooperatively with principals and teachers by observing in classrooms, conducting follow-up conferences, and demonstrating effective teaching strategies for instructional improvement utilizing the curriculum documents developed during Summer institute. * Serve as Liaison for TEA, District, and UTRGV in regards to the Historias Americanas Grant * Meet regularly with area director's curriculum director, Social Studies Specialist and elementary and secondary department chairpersons to obtain input on issues related to social studies and provide assistance in addressing problem areas. * Conduct orientation sessions for teachers who are new to the area of social studies by promoting the use of artifacts developed during Summer institute. * Work cooperatively with parents and community members to ensure understanding support for the Historias Americanas Grant. * Generate an evaluation plan with either an internal or external evaluator * Attend all required Historias Americanas Trainings, Webinars, Conference Calls, and Meetings * Establish and monitor overall budget for operations * Prepare and provide reports as required while maintaining appropriate compliance and data activities * Coordinate the development, review, update, and implementation of Historias Americanas curriculum documents. * Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. * Performs other related duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Communicate and promote high expectation levels with corresponding recognition for excellence and achievement * Establish an environment of success through positive staff morale and program achievement * Monitor and ensure all compliance documentation are in line for Historias Americanas requirements including day-to-day data collection, personnel procedures, and fiscal responsibilities * Mediate and facilitate effective resolution of conflicts in a timely fashion * Encourage consensus building and team decision processes * Manage the use of office facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe office * Assess personnel performance and develop professional training to address gaps or to enhance existing positive traits while fostering a train-the-trainer atmosphere.
