Fleet Maintenance Manager
The purpose of this position is to repair machinery, structures,
and containers through the welding process. Other duties include
fabricating equipment in all phases of fleet, participating in
collection maintenance operations, inspecting, repairing and
maintaining metal system components on vehicles and equipment to
meet state and OM inspection requirements, and other duties as

d. Must have a current and valid Class "C" drivers or a Class
"A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a satisfactory
driving record and/or have the ability to obtain a Class "A" or "B"
Commercial Driver's License from the Texas Department of Public
Safety within the first year of employment.
Solid Waste Management Requirement:
a. Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a
HAZMAT endorsement within first year of employment.
High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
Community college, vocational, business, technical, or
correspondence schools certificates are likely sources.
Required Work Experience:
Requires three (3) years of experience in welding, gas and
diesel engine repair, and maintenance work.
Five (5) years of experience in welding, gas and diesel engine
repair, and maintenance work.
Supervisory Experience Requirement:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
a. Weld and demonstrate proficiency in MIG, STICK, TIG, or
SUBARC and successfully complete a comprehensive fabrication skills
test; utilize and read welding measuring devices to include but not
limited to squares, levels and tape measures; able to make repair
welds using fabrication equipment to include but not limited to
using cutting torches, hand grinders, surface grinders and wheel
b. Requires a working knowledge of welding fabrication and
repair, and hazards and safety precautions common to municipal
maintenance and repair activities.
c. Possess basic math skills to include but not limited to
adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra
for the purpose calculating material fabrication
d. Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and
receipt of information.
e. Normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general
instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired results. There
is some opportunity for discretion when selecting among a few,
easily identifiable choices.
f. Work requires the use of standard technical skills
appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
g. Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools
used in modern welding fabrication and repair.
h. Skilled in operation of related tools and equipment.
i. Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
j. Knowledge and application of state and federal law, the
Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and
Safety and Environmental Regulations.

The employee will be subject to frequent exposure to unpleasant
environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed
outside or with exposure to risk.
The job has significant exposure to hazards and physical demands
are high, and require constant fine dexterity, vision, hearing, and
handling of paperwork. Duties involve working with heavyweight
materials and/or using force equal to lifting 50 pounds.
