Role Mission: TheManaging Director of Regional Operations (MDRO)is responsible forregionaloperational success intheir assigned portfolio, withinTexas, Louisiana, Florida, Ohio, Arkansas,andfutureregions.In this capacity, theMDROworks with Executive Directors (EDs) to support Regional Directors of Operations (RDOs) in the implementation of large-scale initiatives, management of progress toward goals, and launch of new schools and new regions. TheMDRO works with the VP of Regional Operations tolead the coordination of network-wide efforts and the sharing of best practices to reach ambitious goals.Specifically, theMDROactively collaborates with national teams to marshal resources in support of eachof their assigned regions, with a specific emphasis on training and capacity building of ops team members and beginning of year (BOY) execution. TheMDROwill work in strong business partnership with the Human Assets team, Student Success team, all Operations teams, and Regional leadership.Accountabilities:85% Retention of RDOs and APOsand campus Ops Staff in portfolio

  • In collaboration with regional Executive Directors(EDs), lead the hiring and onboarding of top performing RDOs and APOswithin their portfolio
    • Actively business partner with the Human Assets team to provide ongoing feedback from the field
    • Participate in all RDO interviews and launching APO interviews
    • Actively collaborate withOps Talent Developmentteam on RDO and APO success through the development and execution of timely and relevant training
    • Implement a 12-month Onboarding Scope & Sequencefor RDOsin their portfolio
    • Co- lead the vision setting for PD activities and participate in setting thetrainingcalendar100% of RDOs meet at least 80% of their Goals (Coaching and Support)
      • HoldsRDO Check-insand ensuresRDOs are on trackand focused on right priorities
      • Leadsthe development of RDOs through the Operations Leader Development Plan (tracking proficiency of prioritized SLLs)
      • Define, lead and execute national RDO and APO Operating Mechanisms
      • Guide RDOs/EDs on implementation of large-scale, network-wide initiatives (e.g.Crisis Management)
      • Responsible for regional deep dive analysis of progress toward goals and implementation of best practices to impact results
      • Provides insight and feedback around national data tracking tools (dashboards, STREAM,etc.)90% New Student Persistence through the First Day of School
        • Creates a strong partnershipwith the StudentPerformance & Advocacyteam on all aspects of persistence management (data tracking, PD, accountability, recapture efforts, etc.)
        • Partnerswith theVP ofStudent Advocacy & Performance team to ensure schools are executing the established series of quality onboarding touchpoints withfamilies(Open Houses, Welcome To IDEA, Registration, Meet the Teacher, etc.) from the moment a new family applies to our schools through the FDOS that positively impacts 1st year studentpersistence.
        • Reviews campus plans and monitors progress through data and RDO check-ins/observations to ensure 100% of all new families are on-boarded two weeks prior to the FDOS
        • Workswith RDOs to analyze persistence trends and lead strategy to impact persistence within the region or specific campuses of concern.
        • Co-leadsstrategic support of overall new family persistence effortsMaintain compliance of SB-11(TX)& other states'required reportingin which we operate
          • Ensures all district crisis management materials are up to date with current state requirements and are accessible for national and regional staff.
          • ManagesDirector of Safety & Security to providecampus leadersall tools necessaryto comply withrequirements for thedistrict Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan (MEOP)
          • Developsand designsprofessional development around crisis managementforRDOs, APOs, and other operations staff and follows-up with observations in the field for implementation of processes and next steps.
          • Collaborates withDirector of Safety & SecurityandRegional Operations Project Manager to ensure effectiveness of crisis management materials and collects and analyzes feedback to identify areas of need for subsequent professional development experiences.100% Enrollment in every region in portfolio by the FDOS.
            • Business partners with VP of Marketing, Communications, and Enrollment on regional strategy for recruiting new students.
            • Identifies and intervenes when campuses are approaching budget driver to prevent negative budget implications or consequences.
            • Supports regional and campus leaders to address enrollment challenges and ensure that every school maintains expected enrollment.100% of Schoolsin MDRO's portfolioare BOYReady.
              • Coaches and develops launching RDOs and APOs in their portfolio to meetallYear 0 goals.
              • Ensures that every schoolin their portfoliois operations ready with a strong leader and strong systems and processes in placethrough coaching and feedback.
              • Develops and designs professional development alongside Director of School Launch to build core skills for launching APOs and RDOs within their portfolio.
              • Ensures high quality BOY training for regional and campus staff to ensure a successful BOY through introductory training, rehearsals, and observationsLives IDEA's values

                  • Education:Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred
                  • Experience: 8+ years of full-time professional experience required; 3+ years of full-time people management required; experience managing managers strongly preferred

                      • Direct management of Director of Safety and Security
                      • Matrixed (indirect) management of Regional Directors of Operations in portfolio
                      • Travel requirement: 40% to various regions and schools for in-field observations and training Compensation:
                        • Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $100,700 and $125,800, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
